An Epic 40k After Action Review
by Carlos Lourenco

This battle fought at the CGC in March, 1998

Part 1: Initial Setup

Space Marines

1. Assault Detachment Graccus: Sets up in Point Judith by the PZ as the Force Reserve. WIth force Graccus is the Scotian Scout platoon, which is running the PZ, and the 1000 civilians.

2. Tactical Detachment Crassus: Sets up along a hedgerow just west of Point Judith. They are responsible for the northern portion of the defensive line.

3. Tactical Detachment Marius: They set up in the hedgerow south of the road with their devestators in overwatch in some ruins along the west edge of Point Judith. The will handle the southern portion of the defensive line. Second Company HQ is with Marius.

4. Support Detachment Belarius: Sets up on the hill just South of point Judith. Their Heavy weapons are covering Primary Fire Zones in the open areas west of the defensive line.

5. Recon Detachment Harley: Their bikes and land speeders are along the southern edge of the sector out in front of the defensive line. They are screening the southern flank to provide early warning against an anticipated end run by the Tyranids along the south end of the valley.

Tyranids

1. Assault Swarm (Dets 5 and 4): This swarm will attack directly against the northern portion of the line and make for the PZ. The flyer swarm will also attack the PZ directly. The hope is that the Space Marine commander, desperate to save civilian lives, will draw off reinforcements from the south.

2. Tyranid Support Swarms (Dets 3,6,7,8): These Tyranids will advance to the center of the Marine line and lay down heavy harassing fire. they will attack if the opportunity presents itself. Hopefully they will draw fire. The Dominatrix and eventually the Biotitans will join the force. The reserve Swarm (det 6) will be wit this force and be committed where ever it will do the most good.

3. A huge Assault Swarm (DET 2): This is the main Tyranid effort. it will delay while the northern feint draws off Marines then support the advance guard and attack Point Judith from the south.

4. An Assault Swarm (DET 1): heavily seeded with Lictors: They are the advanced guard for the Tyranid attack. They are to make an end run against the southern flank and seize the hill which overlooks Point Judith.
